Experiencing the Peace of God
Luke 1:78-79
Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring on high hath visited is, to give light to them that set in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
Peace is a rare commodity on the world market today. On the world scene there is unrest and fear because of wars and rumors of wars. Terrorism has gotten the people of the Middle East nations and now even America wondering where it will strike next. Who will be the next target of senseless killing. Violence and hate have reared their ugly heads in almost every realm of life--from the local Burger King to the Middle School and from game rooms to the living rooms. We probably can not escape the acts of violence, war and hate, but we can experience an inner peace in our lives that can help us to endure these dangerous, trying times. God sent his Son Jesus Christ, who is referred to as "the dayspring on high" to guide us into the way of peace. Anyone who will recieve Jesus, "the Lord of Peace" as their personal Lord and Savior can experience the Peace of God!
1. What is the peace of God?
*The object of divine promise that is brought about by God's mercy,
granting deliverence from all the distress we experience as a result of sin.
*Inner peace is a product of making peace with God, when by forgiveness of sin we enter into a right relationship with God. (Romans 5:1)
II. How do we recieve the peace of God?
*We recieve the peace of God by faith. (Isaiah 26:3)
*We recieve the peace of God by the reconciling work of Christ upon the cross of Calvary.
*To experience the peace of God, we must have the "Lord of Peace" as our Lord.
*When Jesus Christ is your Lord, his peace will remain in you. (John 14: 27)
*His peace can rule in our hearts, rather than fear. (Col. 3:15)
*When the Lord's peace is displayed in your life, it will cause wonder in this world. (Philiippians 4:7)
*You can share the message of the gospel of peace wherever you go. (Ephesians 6:15)
Conclusion: To experience the peace of God is to have an inner peace that comes from knowing the Lord of Peace. If you beleieve the gospel message of John 3:16 and call upon the name of the Lord (Romans 10:13), you are saved and experience the peace of God in your life, no matter what the circumstances!
